Hi, I’m Arino — welcome to Arinochanoma!
“Chanoma” (茶の間) means the tea room, the cozy heart of a Japanese home where family gathers over a warm cup of tea. I was born and raised in Japan, surrounded by the quiet rituals of green tea and matcha long before I understood why they mattered. This site is my way of sharing that world with people outside Japan who are curious about it.
What This Site Is About
Arinochanoma is a guide to Japanese matcha and green tea subscription boxes. Whether you’re just discovering matcha through your local café or you’re already deep into comparing ceremonial-grade powders, I review and compare the subscription services, brands, and products that bring authentic Japanese tea straight from Japan to your door.
You’ll find:
- Honest reviews and comparisons of matcha and Japanese tea subscription boxes
- Guides to tea regions like Uji, Shizuoka, and Kagoshima
- Explanations of matcha grades, harvest seasons, and what actually makes tea “authentic”
- Brewing and whisking tips, tools, and gift ideas
- Recommendations based on what’s genuinely worth your money
Why I Started This
Living in Japan, I noticed how much confusion there is abroad about what makes matcha good, where it should come from, and which subscription boxes are actually worth trying versus which ones are just repackaging low-grade tea with nice branding. I wanted to build a resource that treats this with the care it deserves.
